About the Position
The Institute for Multidisciplinary Mathematics (IUMM) at the Universitat Politècnica de València is offering two postdoctoral positions within the uGEMA project (CIPROM/2026/22), funded by the Generalitat Valenciana's Prometeo Programme.
The positions are centred on geometric numerical integration and uncertainty quantification, two core areas of applied and computational mathematics, and include an applied line on mathematical epidemiology modelling developed in collaboration with FISABIO (the Foundation for the Promotion of Health and Biomedical Research of the Valencian Region).
Successful candidates will work under the supervision of Sergio Blanes and Juan C. Cortés, both faculty members of IUMM/UPV with extensive research records in numerical methods for differential equations and uncertainty quantification.
Required Qualifications
PhD in Mathematics or a related field
Experience in random differential equations (RDEs), uncertainty quantification (UQ), or numerical methods is valued
Compensation
Gross salary of over €30,000 per year.
Contract Duration
The contracts are offered for an initial period of one year, renewable for a further year (1+1 years).
How to Apply
Interested candidates should contact Juan C. Cortés at jccortes@upv.es.
Application deadline: 30 September 2026
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
These postdoctoral positions offer:
The opportunity to work at the intersection of geometric numerical integration and uncertainty quantification, two highly active areas of computational mathematics
Supervision by Sergio Blanes and Juan C. Cortés, established researchers with strong publication records in these fields
An applied research line in mathematical epidemiology, in collaboration with FISABIO, offering real-world relevance beyond theoretical numerics
A competitive gross salary of over €30,000/year, with a renewable 1+1 year contract structure
A base at IUMM, Universitat Politècnica de València, within a research group backed by the prestigious Generalitat Valenciana Prometeo Programme for excellence in research
For candidates passionate about numerical analysis, stochastic modelling, and applied mathematics with real-world epidemiological applications, this is a strong opportunity to advance research within a well-funded, internationally recognised group in Valencia.
