About the Position

ICMC/USP is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow to join the IntegraSanca project, which focuses on making AI-driven decision support systems (DSSs) usable, trustworthy, and actionable for municipal public administrators in Brazil.

The project entails:

  • Identifying the challenges, opportunities, and actual needs of administrators regarding the use of AI to analyze municipal public policies

  • Designing interfaces and data visualizations that render the system's recommendations understandable, trustworthy, and actionable for public administrators

  • Validating the prototype through case studies and usability testing with real users

  • Proposing replicable guidelines and best practices for the implementation, adoption, and sustainable use of DSSs in Brazilian municipalities

  • Incorporating accessibility and inclusion criteria throughout the design and evaluation process

This work is grounded in real-world deployment, with testing and validation carried out in partnership with the São Carlos City Hall.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science

  • Experience in research regarding the use of AI

  • Experience in HCI and applied research in smart cities (experience with visual analytics and in-the-wild evaluation)

  • Proficiency in Python programming is essential, as the role involves development and testing in real-world environments (São Carlos City Hall)

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience evaluating agentic or generative AI

How to Apply
